In 2020 the New Zealand Institute of Psychotherapy (NZIPP) will be offering a Foundation Training
Year in Psychoanalytic Thinking including the following courses:
- Psychoanalytic Theory;
- Infant Observation;
- Case Discussions.
These courses can be taken concurrently or separately, as stand-alone courses; they can also be an
introduction as preparation for the training programme in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy offered by
NZIPP, for those interested in continuing and meeting the requirements. Tutors are NZIPP Members.

Participants must have a current New Zealand registration (or overseas equivalent) and professional
training in the mental health, physical health, social and/or education field; students attending
university/certified programmes can also apply. Applicants will be invited to attend an individual
interview to consider their suitability, in terms of personal/professional maturity and sophistication,
and to understand whether the courses meet their needs.

WHERE: The courses are held in Auckland and offered remotely by video-conference to participants in other parts of the country or overseas.

WHEN: Each course will last for 1 ½ hours, once a month from March to December 2020 for a total of 10 meetings per year.

FEES: $650 for each course; students $500; Concession for two courses: $1200, student $900;
Concession for three courses: $1800, student $1350
This fee includes additional Public Lectures, Cineforum, Workshops and Conferences that NZIPP offers during the year, led by psychoanalytic psychotherapists, psychoanalysts and other senior practitioners in the field from New Zealand and abroad.
