About the role

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist / Neuropsychologist to work within the Neurology Service, based at Wellington Hospital.  This is a locum position for 1 year to allow our current Psychologist extended leave.

The post would suit a confident clinician with significant experience of neuropsychology as you will be the sole psychologist in the service, supported by a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, nurses and other allied health staff.

Duties

The role involves complex neuropsychological assessment of neurology outpatients with a range of complex conditions including multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, tumours and early onset dementias. 

Part of this role MAY include some therapy / psycho-education to support patients with new diagnoses, including individuals with functional neurological symptoms. Periodically, your skills will also be required by the neurosurgery team for patients undergoing awake craniotomies. 

Skills & Experience

You will have a doctorate and/or postgraduate diploma in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology (or equivalent), as well as holding New Zealand registration as a Clinical Psychologist with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
