We are looking for registered psychologist to join a thriving group of 15 clinical, counselling and neuro psychologists who work in a range of specialties and interdisciplinary teams across the Taranaki DHB. Successful applicants will:
- Have a relevant clinical background and be able to provide advice and clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team
- Possess solid assessment and therapeutic skills appropriate to their specialty
- Display enthusiasm to embrace new ideas and innovative thinking towards service delivery
We have two temporary positions (1.8 FTE) available in our popular child and adolescent mental health team and one additional and newly created temporary position in our paediatric and child health service. Our adult mental health and health psychology services each have a 0.5 FTE permanent vacancy. We would be happy to support combined roles across the different services if a mix of experience is preferred and would welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists.
The CAMHS Team provides specialist mental health treatment, intervention and support to tamariki and rangatahi up to 18 years, and their families. The psychologist(s) in this role would manage a case load but also provide supervision to other team members. They would develop close links with other child health staff, including paediatricians, inpatient facility staff, Kaupapa Maori and Non-Government organisations, as well as be involve in the coordination and liaising with the Mental Health Services for adults, the Alcohol and Drug team and other DHB services.
The role in Paediatrics has been specifically established to work with the two existing psychologists in this service in the completion of assessments for Intellectual Disability for tamariki and rangatahi up to the age of 16 years. It would suit any psychologist interested in gaining additional experience in psychometric testing and involves assessment of adaptive functioning in both the home and school environment.
The adult mental health role involves working as part of a team of psychologists that offer to input to community and inpatient clients. The role includes psychological assessment and psychotherapy for service users who are experiencing acute and/or severe mental health and/or addiction difficulties, facilitating therapy groups and offering teaching, supervision and consultation to colleagues. There are five other experienced psychologists currently employed in this area along with two intern psychologists.
The health psychology position involves being part of the small but cohesive and innovative persistent pain team, who carry out coordinated multi disciplinary assessment and intervention, and have a well thought of group pain education programme. The role also involves working with people with acute or long term illness/injury admitted as inpatients to Base Hospital, alongside another experienced psychologist in the service.
