Job Title: Educational or Clinical Psychologist (Part-Time)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Psychologist to support the mental and emotional well-being of our student population. The successful candidate will work alongside the Take2 team to provide psychological services/support to students.

This is a contract, part-time position, with the possibility of extension based on outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Student Support and Development:

  • Provide direct psychological support and counseling to students, focusing on mental and emotional well-being and essential life skills.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to integrate mental health practices within the student support framework.
  • Expectation is 20 hours per week, with a degree of flexibility as to when, although services with students are mostly conducted in our learning environment in Newmarket, Auckland.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Post graduate diploma in Psychology clinical or equivalent  (i.e. ABA; Clinical; Educational; or Forensic Psychology)
  • Registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board (Te Poari Kaimātai Hinengaro o Aotearoa) within a relevant scope of practice
  • Hold a current practicing certificate
  • Not the subject to any previous or current complaints under the HPDT
  • Prior experience in supporting and counseling individuals in incarceration.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of psychological theories, trauma-informed care, and counseling techniques relevant to students.
  • Knowledge of the unique needs and challenges of the student population, including Indigenous perspectives and multicultural diversity.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Maintains clinical and cultural competences

Communication and Leadership:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, educational staff, stakeholders, and experts.
  • Self-starter and motivated 
  • Takes strong ownership of work and projects
