Bio: | Dr Sarah Bell-Booth is a registered clinical psychologist. She has completed a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours in Psychology) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Massey University. Sarah currently holds an active annual practising certificate and is a full member of New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (MNZCCP). Sarah has over 13 years of clinical experience in various settings including community mental health, primary mental health, university, and private practice. Specifically, she has experience treating depression, stress and anxiety including panic, social anxiety, specific phobias, health anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and generalised worries. In addition, she helps people adjust to new situations and roles. The evidence-based techniques that Sarah uses are drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based practice. She also intertwines aspects of positive psychology to build resilience and utilise existing strengths. Sarah has an empathic and compassionate approach which strengthens her therapeutic relationships. She works collaboratively with individuals to empower them to achieve their goals. Sarah has written seven mental health books called My Coping Skills Journal, Reflect Journal, Mind Magic: Coping Tricks for Young People, Brave Book, The Brain Train, Luca the Brave Leopard, and Bee Yourself. These have been helpful, practical resources for use in and between therapy sessions. |
