About

Hello, kia ora, 你好. My name is Anna, I use the pronouns she and her. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist, and work with adults who are struggling with emotional or mental health difficulties. I am passionate about providing respectful, empowering, empathetic and helpful assessment, therapy and professional supervision. I can help out with a wide range of mental health issues, life struggles and ‘stuck’ feelings, and am particularly interested in men’s mental health, Asian mental health, trauma-focused work, and difficulties with emotions, depression, anxiety, or identity. I don't do assessments for ADHD or autism, sorry. Please contact me if you have any questions about what I could help you out with, or whether psychology is right for you. My qualifications and experience: I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsyc) from the University of Auckland (Waipapa Taumata Rau) and a BSc in psychology with first-class honours from Victoria University of Wellington (Te Herenga Waka). I worked in the public mental health service from 2014 - 2021, for Counties Manukau and Hutt Valley DHBs. I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board in the clinical scope of practice. I am a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists, the International Society for Emotion Focused Therapy, the World Association for Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapies, and the Australian Institute of Emotion Focused Therapy. I offer a range of assessment and therapy options. My main models for therapy and supervision are Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My base training had a focus on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I am happy to ‘do what works’ to integrate models in a way that fits with you. Don’t worry if these terms don’t mean anything to you- I am happy to talk them through, or to make a suggestion as to what might fit best with your particular style and issue. I have also completed training on Maori, Pacific and Asian models of mental health and recovery, supervision, trauma-focused work, suicide and risk management, gender and sexuality, autism, ‘personality disorders’, and working with psychosis, among others. Please contact me by email, text or through my website.
