I've been based in Christchurch for so long that I forget to include time in Wellington as a newbie, introduced to NZCCP there, and the value of supporting NZCCP over the years serving on different committees, currently it's BOMPS. My main area of interest has always been attachment oriented therapy, and therapy for trauma in its many guises. But having 3 sons who are now adults with autsim spectrum and ADHD, along with other conditions of neurodivergence led me into finding ways to support them, and then adding those strategies to my tool kit for therapy. Then seeing the gap in services for adults with neurodivergence pointed me to start conducting assessments-a kind of serendipitous pathway to my current work which is roughly a third ACC-related work and two thirds work with neurodivergent adults and adolescents. Sometimes the two overlap.
