About
I have worked in the field of mental health since 1981. I specialise in the field of trauma and dissociation and I offer professional supervision, training and assessments in this complex field. As an EMDRNZ Accredited practitioner and with many years in the trauma field I can offer assistance in working with CPTSD and DID and related challenges. I work with the rainbow community and have a strong interest in supporting the related trauma in this client group. I have worked in NZ and the UK over a long career and this has been both clinical work and leadership to Director level across several areas: mental health services, intellectual disability services, couples therapy services, forensic services and mental health in a tertiary education setting as well as private practice work with ACC funded sensitive claims and psychological recovery from other trauma.
I am no longer offering therapy as part of a gradated retirement plan. This has freed up time for writing related to this area of work. My work has included the development of the APEX model for working with Non-Suicidal Self-Injury and I am publishing a journal article on this with a view to then developing a Leaders Guide to help others deliver this approach in Alternatives to Self Harm groups.
In 2022 the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) awarded me Fellow of ISSTD in recognition of my 'outstanding contribution to the field of trauma and dissociation and to ISSTD.' This is a great honour as in 2025 there are only 2 of us in NZ who are Fellows. More details about my bio can be found on Linked-in.
For information about my training check Grow.co.nz or e mail me. For ACC funded assessments these must come through an ACC approved provider who is offering therapy to the client.
