About
Since registering as a Clinical Psychologist in 2005 I have worked in clinical and leadership roles across adult mental health, Māori mental health and addictions and not for profit organisations. I currently work in private practice and offer psychological services to people aged 18 years and older.
My practice is anchored in the values of ngākau aroha (compassion), whakawhanaungatanga (connection) and marutau (safety). I draw on knowledge from the fields of trauma, neurobiology, attachment and mātauranga Māori. Working collaboratively with people I strive to find strengths and evidence-based solutions that are grounded in values, committed action and mindfulness.
Over my career I have developed a passion for supporting people who have experienced complex trauma or those who are struggling with significant life challenges (e.g. terminal illness, relationship difficulties, grief and loss). I enjoy working with people who are looking to understand how their early life experiences may be impacting their current wellbeing.
I also value working with professionals who are experiencing workplace stress or are looking to enhance their career. To date this has included providing therapy, coaching and supervision for medical and legal professionals, the New Zealand Police, St John New Zealand and clients in management and leadership roles across a range of sectors.
I am a Supplier and Provider for ACC under the Services for Sensitive Claims (SCS) and provide assessment and therapy to people who have experienced sexual violence.
Therapeutic techniques I utilise include Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MCBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy. I have completed 20 hours of training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga with the Trauma Centre Yoga Programme.
I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board in the clinical scope of practice. I am also a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (NZCCP).
Sessions are 55 minutes in length and can be offered kanohi ki te kanohi (face-to-face) or through telehealth/video.
