About
I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist who has worked in adult physical and mental health for many years. I have been in private practice for more than a decade. I work with people with a wide range of physical and mental health difficulties, with couples, and with people who want to make their life better and more satisfying. I have extensive health service and organisational leadership experience and offer professional supervision for psychologists other professionals and managers at all levels.
I hold a PhD and the Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology (Otago University) and a Diploma of Management (NZ Institute of Management). I was the Professional Leader-Psychology (Head Psychologist) for Counties Manukau DHB for 10 years until 2014. I was a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland and have taught at universities in New Zealand and the United States.
I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and organisations to develop and to be successful and as physically, mentally, and socially healthy as possible. I take a collaborative, practical, and results-oriented approach and focus on assisting people to grow and develop their own skills and abilities. My model of practice is broadly informed CBT-based and with a strong focus on systemic factors, strengths-based, and positive psychology approaches. I am very attentive to the existential or meaning-based issues that people struggle with.
