The Ministry of Health is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced Psychologists and Psychiatrists to undertake assessments ordered under s23/s35 of the CPMIP Act and to be designated as Specialist Assessors or Medical Consultants to complete IDCCR Act reviews

To be considered for designation in roles under s146 IDCCR you need to be a registered Psychologist or Psychiatrist with a current Annual Practising Certificate.

Essential skills and experience include:
• The provision of reports to the Court or in relation to criminal offending
• Confidence in completing eligibility assessments for intellectual disability including a clear understanding of the limitations of psychometric tests and need to explain test results in the context of the person’s experiences
• Strong ability to write clinical formulations based on multiple sources of information

Highly desirable skills include:
• Knowledge of forensic risk assessment measures
• Clinical work in intellectual disability
• Clinical work with a forensic population

Reports are allocated at the discretion of Forensic Coordination Service (Intellectual Disability) Coordinators and paid at a competitive court report writing hourly rate.

• Copy of your CV including two referees.
• Copy of three anonymised reports demonstrating your best work completed for the Court or in relation to forensic assessment.
• If you are employed by Health New Zealand Service you need to include confirmation that your employer supports your application
